An intern you can count on

Clark College student and Cadet accounting intern Kris Jones works at his desk in March.

Seeing an intern in our engineering department is nothing new.  This year, however, we tried something a little different: An accounting department intern.

For the past three months we’ve had the pleasure of working with Kris Jones, who is earning his accounting certificate at Clark College. Kris found the internship through a vocational counselor and has been spending time with our accounting whiz Deb Price and a few other folks in our back office.

What does he think of the gig?

“It’s a lot of numbers,” he said. “The biggest learning opportunity was using computer systems to track orders and payments.”

His timing is perfect, because that’s something that he’ll be learning during his next term in school. He was also able to benefit from years of experience our other employees have in the industry.

“It’s easy to learn when you have a person who is willing to take the time to help you,” he said.

Deb echoed that statement when looking back on her time working with Kris.

“It’s a good experience,” she said. “You feel like you’re giving something back.”

Kris also worked closely with Jackie Maze, who said he was able to catch on quickly with applying credits and processing cash applications.

“He caught on this side of things really well,” she said. “He did a great job and always balanced.”

Kris will graduate with his certificate in June. We wish him all the best and want to thank him for his work.
