Space heaters and fire hazards

All electrical wires including space heaters are considered flammable and can be a fire hazard if not handled properly. A simple touch or sudden movement of the wire can be very dangerous and even life threatening.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, space heaters were involved in 79 percent of home heating fires.

One of National Fire Protection Association's solutions to this problem was to:

  1. Have a three-foot “kid-free zone” around open fires and space heaters.

Although space heaters can cause life threatening situations, baseboard heaters are preferred as it is permanently installed to the wall and contains safety accessories including a high-temperature safety shutoff feature ,to give you peace of mind and prevent fire hazards.

Not warm enough?

Since space heaters only cover a small amount of space in most cases, you have to be directly in front of it in order to be feel warmth, or you require multiple heaters to get the desired warmth. So while your feet might be warm and toasty, but the rest of your body or the room will still be cold.

A solution to this problem is to switch to an electric baseboard heater as they can efficiently circulate warm air to heat up to 175 square feet, that's approximately 10'x8' room.
